MISC Productions was built the same way its founders were — from scratch. Melissa Chung and Sam Ibrahim grew up in Toronto's Scarborough neighbourhood, in an immigrant family, and carried that grit into building companies together long before film became the focus.

That same instinct — bet on people, back the work, do it properly — now shapes how MISC produces film and television. In 2025, Morningside, directed by Ron Dias and produced in association with MISC, became Canada's highest-grossing independent film of the year, per Playback, holding theatres for ten weeks. MISC also holds notable credits on The Brutalist (2024) — nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture and winner of the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture, Drama — and The Testament of Ann Lee (2025), both produced in association with UK-based Black cinema company We Are Parable.

MISC's latest initiative, MISC Creators Lab, is a script-to-production program built to find one original Canadian screenplay and get it made — the same belief in giving people a real shot that's carried the company since day one.
